Red Fort / Lal Kila Delhi (Entry Fee, Timings, History etc.)

 About The Red Fort

The Red Fort, also known as Lal Kila of Delhi, is a must-see on every tour of Delhi. Red Fort occupies an area of 255 acres and is made up of numerous structures with complex carvings, floral themes, double domes, and a magnificent defence wall of around 2.5 km.

It was originally built as the palace of Shahjahanabad, the fifth Mughal emperor's capital city, but it is today one of India's most well-known landmarks, not just in Delhi. Emperor Shah Jahan was responsible for the construction of the Red Fort and another famous piece of Indian architecture, the Taj Mahal in Agra. This fort is known as Red Fort because red sandstone was utilised in its construction.
